Play in Renton

From the shores of Lake Washington to the top of Cougar Mountain, there is something to do for everyone in Renton, Washington. The most-visited attraction is the monument of one of the greatest guitarists of all time: the Jimi Hendrix Grave Site at Greenwood Memorial Park. 

Renton also boasts over 40 parks and trails for walking, biking, strollers, wheelchairs and joggers. Kennydale Beach is where Clint Eastwood got his start as a local lifeguard, and above the Cedar River is the Renton Public Library, the only library in the country that is built over a river. From mid-June through Labor Day, families can cool off at the Henry Moses Aquatic Center. 

The 8-Bit Arcade is a retro pinball arcade which has hosted the national pinball championships. 8-Bit serves beer and cider all day, but goes "adult only" after 9:30pm.

Parks and Recreation

• Parks and Trails. Our systems of 32 parks and more than 10 miles of trails remain among the best in the region. Enjoy a quiet stroll along Lake Washington or the Cedar River, find a playground designed for all ages with unique features like the Berliner Neptune XXL climbing structure at Sunset Neighborhood Park, or hike the interactive TRACK Trail at Cedar River Trail Park.
• Parks Planning and Natural Resources. This division responds to current and future recreational demands with newly constructed or reconstructed parks and trails. In 2021, they oversaw upgrades to five parks and will tackle six more in 2022. They also manage our Urban Forestry division, which maintains a healthy ecosystem for current and future generations.
• Maplewood Golf Course. Renton is home to Maplewood Golf Course, one of the area’s best public courses. The course also includes a 30-stall, heated driving range, open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week; a fully stocked pro shop; and the popular River Rock Grill.
• Recreation. Our recreation division works tirelessly to connect our community and enhance our quality of life through social programs, recreational opportunities, and helpful resources. Included are programs at Henry Moses Aquatic Center, educational activities, and after-school programs. Recently they reached an agreement to bring a tuition-free Bezos Academy preschool to Renton in 2022. They also coordinate our Adaptive Recreation programs.
• Renton History Museum. Renton History Museum provides public engagement, education, and historical research to our community. In addition, they maintain 90,000 historical objects, archival materials, and 20,000 photographs to the highest-possible professional museum standards. 

Recreation posted the November and December edition of Let's Go, Renton!, their guide to available recreation programs. The division works with other city divisions and local and national companies to bring popular and innovative programs to our residents.

Remember, seniors (50+), Renton Senior Activity Center is now open. It offers free activities, including ping pong, billiards, puzzles, and a fitness room from 8:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on weekdays. Reservations are required.
